Well, maybe I'm the first one home.   I think maybe one or two no-shows may have been due to the train strike(s), but luckily not too many.   It was a great crowd, including many old and not-for-a-long-time friends.   In the circumstances, it was an unusual setlist:  I think it's the first time I have ever played every single song from a particular album.  As usual, it was me on vocals and Simon Wallace on piano on everything, with me also on guitar except as indicated.  This is what we did:

The Luck of the Draw
History and Geography
Wristwatch For A Drummer
Care-Charmer Sleep (no guitar)
An Empty table  (no guitar)
Eye Of The Universe
The Masic Wasn't There (no guitar)
[PETE AT PIANO] I See The Joker
[PETE AT PIANO] Me To Thank
I Wouldn't Hear A Word Against The Spring  (no guitar)
Screen-Freak  (no guitar)
-----
Winter kept Us Warm  (no guitar)
Beware Of The Beautiful Stranger
The Trophies Of My Lovers Gone  (no guitar)
Canoe  (no guitar)
Have you Got A Biro I Can Borrow?
A King At Nightfall
Thirty Year Man  (no guitar)
Together At Last
+
The Party's Moving On  (no guitar)
Girl On The Train

We sold quite a few albums, but apologies to those who were taken aback and off guard by our inability to accept cards.   Ian Shircore came along with a back of copies of Loose Canon, which he most generously gave away.  Strangely, he perhaps created the most attractive feature of the evening.

Yes, you're right - that first set was too long (about 65 mins, I think), due mainly to my keenness to include all the songs on the CD and my failure to p[ay attention.   Everyone was extraordinarily patient and appreciative, but afterwards I was reminded of my good friend Mike Hodges's comment after my ridiculously long set at the great Monyash Event all those years agoi:  "It was a triumph of middle-aged bladder control - yours and the audience's."

Richard Williams has published a positive review of The Pheastantry on his blog The Blue Moment : https://thebluemoment.com/2023/09/04/the-return-of-pete-atkin/#comments . He has been a champion of Pete and Clive since the early 1970s when he was writing in the Melody Maker. Hopefully this review will help generate a few more sales of the new album !

Despite Pete's modest reservations, this sounds like a very upbeat launch, hopefully with more reverberations ahead. Congratulations!
I'd bet the audience was very happy with the extended setlist.
And thank you Stephen for the link to the appreciative review.

I await the CD with bated breath (it's almost here, says the post office).
Happy listening to all.
