Yes, folks, it's a date. The official release date of the 'Midnight Voices' CD will be somewhere around then, so we'll attempt to make it a bit special. 'We' being me and the guys, for I shall indeed be performing there once again with the band. I shall be sharing the gig (and the band) with the divine Mrs Wallace (aka Sarah Moule), so I'm hopeful she can be persuaded to contribute a bit of harmony enhancement at some point.

| Naomi. I think that we may find that it was was called Milton Freedman only by a few wits who mistakenly think that the place was given its name to commemorate the poet, John Milton, and the economist, John Maynard Keynes. Looking froward to yet another visit to that part of the world, Kevin Cryan

Kevin, Milton Keynes was named after the two economists - John Maynard Keynes (as you identified) and Milton Friedman. Jaybarber

| What I said is that people mistakenly think it was named after Keynes. In fact, the name came from the village of Milton Keynes*, a name which pedates by some considerable time the birth dates of both economists. (Incidentally the economist's name is pronounced Kaynes not Keynes, so if the town fathers had been serious about the association they would have insisted on the place being pronounciation being Kaynes.) with the emphasis on the a). Kevin Cryan * "Milton Keynes Village When the new city of Milton Keynes was planned in the 1960s, those searching for a name lighted on the ancient village of Milton Keynes, which was within the designated area and appeared to have attractive associations with the poet and economist. In fact, the village had been named in Saxon times, and appeared in the Domesday book as Mideltone. This meant the middle of three settlements or farmsteads, the other settlements probably being Brotone (Broughton) and Waltone (Walton). The Keynes suffix was added in the twelfth century when the Lords of the Manor were of the de Kaynes Family. The first part of the name was gradually shortened to Milton, although some documents used the form Middleton right up to the nineteenth century. The Milton Keynes Development Corporation re-used the name Middleton for the 'grid square' in which the village sits, so things have come full circle!"

| Speaking of Chris, I can tell you that his classic recording of his 1991 concerts in Bremen Gesundheit! was repackaged - not very attractively, I must say - by the budget label, Prism Leisure, as Motor Bikin’(PLATCD 720) and that copies of this this - Motor Bikin', that is - are now turning up at rock-bottom prices in places like Poundland. If you are not sure you'll like Chris's post Atkin stuff, then Gesundheit! is a good place to start trying it out, and if you don't want to go to any great expense seeing whether or not it's to your taste, then it's worth keeping an eye open for Motor Bikin'. I don't suppose any place is selling if for more than a fiver, and I know one, Poundland, which is selling it for, well, a pound. Kevin Cryan

OK, so the full line-up (in addition to me) is as follows: Simon Wallace - piano, MD Mark Hodgson - bass Ralph Salmons - drums, percussion (Mr Dodds is not available) Alan Barnes - saxes, clarinet all of whom will also accompany the divine Miss M's opening set. I do hope that as many MVs as possible will be able to make it if only to help justify the Stables' leap of faith. I think it should be fun.
