Hi there!

Just noticed this conversation is dominating the "last 100 postings" list.
Hope that's Ok.

Now we have a date, venue and time (almost) agreed....

Let's also say that anyone else is welcome to come too.

We'll be the group in the corner all dressed as Pete Atkin at various times in his musical career.

Don't forget....I'm doing 1970 and am actively seeking a gypsy caravan and paisley scarf.

No, only Joe King!   Wink

And I'll be the one wearing odd socks, providing I can buy a pair. One gentlemen's outfitters refused to sell me a pair and insisted I would have to buy two pairs, but I told them I just want one pair, so I took my custom elsewhere...   Angry

As for the noshing, is booking advisable? Should we book a restaurant table of size n (where n=number of noshers)? I don't know how busy it is likely to be. Should we book a table in the pub for n+m (where m=number of non-noshers)? Does anyone who knows the pub know whether booking is necessary/desirable/possible? Any thoughts folks?

Cheers

I'd guess that booking is pretty much de rigeur if we want a table on a Friday night two weeks before Xmas. JtJ, are you okay to arrange this? I'd book for n+4 where n is the number of eaters identified on the forum thus far, cos there're bound to be some last-minute arrivals.

As to m (per Secret Drinker), I'd assume that we don't need a table per se - if indeed one is bookable for non-eaters.

ee, ya daft bugger!

I have spoken to The Hollybush today.  There should be no problem eating there on the 10th, but if we booked a table about a week ahead that would be useful.

Hi there!

Right-Ho then....I'll call the Hollybush about a week before and book a table for....
How many was it again?  Memorys not what it was, you know.

Good grief....I'm getting old.
A child said:  "Nice hair!" to me today.
Then yelled:  "Baldy!" as I went by.
All true, sadly.

Hi there!

Please continue to register your interest in this meeting and whether you want to eat.
I'll scan the thread on 1st December and compile numbers.

Hi there!

Ok Dokey Lemon Chokey Cokie Hoagy,

I make it 5 to eat being....
Secret D;  Colin C (x2);  Leslie Moss;  Theo C.

Leslie suggested booking N+4, I believe.
So if we booked a table for 9?

Probably won't be eating myself.  (But then, who does?   Smiley )

I'll call the place tomorrow in case anyone else wants to come on board before then.

A big appreciation to all of you for your support.  It will be good to see you.
Special thanks to Theo who's coming all the way from Ipswich!

Sadly, my attendance is looking distinctly iffy, to say the least.  A hastily arranged meeting means that I shan't be home until 7:15 at the earliest and it's then a matter of 30 minutes [again, at least] to the pub.  If the meeting over-runs, it'll only make matters worse.

Unless the meeting gets cancelled, in which case wild horses couldn't...etc,  consider me an unexpected bonus if I turn up.

Houston?

Hi there!

I've been trying to call the Hollybush yesterday and today.
The phone rings unanswered.

I've been calling 01582  792423.
I got this number from 2 different Websites.

Any suggestions appreciated.
Otherwise I'll have to take on one of the 118 merchants at £5 a minute.   Shocked

Good Grief....is nothing ever simple?

Anyway....
What I need to tell them is that a group of around 6-9 people want a table to eat at 7.30pm next Friday, 10 December.  If anyone else can get through, perhaps you'd pass the message.

I have to go out now.   Cool

Harrassed in Herts....

Roit monkey,

I've done that.  They're not actually taking bookings, but ther'll be no problem with us eating there at 7:30.

They aren't doing office parties as the kitchen is just finishing refurbishment following their takeover by Brakspears.

So we have a GO Houston.

Thanks for doing that, Colin.
They must have known it was me!   Wink

And I had this plan to book it under the name of "M Voice" too.
Just for fun.   Grin

Still....
All done now.

Looking forward to it immensely already.

Up half the night with a cold, so will not stay too late tonight but wouldn't fail to show for anything (well, almost anything, perhaps a Pete concert!).
