Hello All For those old or interested enough, I thought I'd let you know 60's/70's singer/songwriter Julie Felix is doing a 'warm up' gig for her current tour on Friday 13th Jan from 8pm. It's at The Chequers, Lamberhurst, Kent, not far from Tunbridge Wells. Her hits included El Condor Pasa and Going To The Zoo. My folk band was booked to support but had to pull out due to members' unavailability. The Chequers is a lovely pub in a lovely part of Kent with a great ambience. Nigel (prop) is also a superb (Michelin star) chef. Tickets are £10. The pub also offers excellent accommodation. For tickets (about 20 remaining) call Nigel and Zorny Hilton at The Chequers on 01892 890260. Best Gerry

Julie Felix once played with the late MV and mate Paul Gunningham. There's a photo somewhere or other on the Web I think. Ian C

About a quarter of the way down this page: http://www.knibbworld.com/juliefelix/scrap.htm (Further down there are pictures of Julie with Leonard Cohen, Martin Carthy and, er, The Krankies.)

Well, the gig was good and my band ended up doing the support slot after all. Julie put on a great show to a sold out house. Still very petite and slim and full of energy at the ripe old age of 73. She took a bow so low her head touched the floor at the end! BTW, for any gigging musos amongst us The Chequers in Lamberhurst, Kent, is a good venue for a gig. The stone floor and overall dimensions of the room make for a a good and sympathetic acoustic. The room can be laid out with tables, cabaret style, or as with the JF gig, rows of chairs which can accommodate an audience of around 70. If you're interested in gigging there call Nigel Hilton on 01892 890260 and say I recommended the place. Gerry
