I expect everyone here is familiar with the verse letter that Clive wrote to Pete, while in Paris working on the film Barry McKenzie Holds His Own in 1974. It was published in 'Fan-Mail' in 1977, and subsequently appeared in 'Other Passports', 'The Book of my Enemy' and on Pete's website "Smash Flops". It can also be found in the Clive James Website Archive.
 
Here now (in audio only) is Clive reading and commenting on excerpts from the poem, part of a set of interviews he gave about the songwriting process to Hayley Redmond a few years ago:
