Hi all

Don't think anyone's mentioned that there's a lengthy and entertaining interview with Clive James in the current edition of the estimable Word magazine.  It's in this interview that Clive, rightly or wrongly, stakes his claims on 'young fogey' and 'underwhelmed' . Well, maybe his claims are exaggerated, but, as he says in the interview, 'you need your conceit because there are lots of people ready to be humble for you'.

And, as he rightly points out, he could always turn a phrase, and there are some excellent examples in this piece.  I particularly liked 'television is a swamp of approximate language'.

Regards

Mike
