Lyrically not but am I the only one who can hear an undertone of the melody for Laughing Boy in this song:  
 
Dusty Road by Oi Va Voi from their 2009 release Travelling The Face of the Earth.
 
The whole album is worth a listen

Yes, there are definitely echoes there.  I'd say it was serendipity rather than being an "hommage".  Still nice tune, and interesting song (though a bit leaden in its rhyming scheme),
