This whole series so far has been a big disappointment to me. It billed itself as being about the nature of debate, but in practice it has taken just a few clips from a past discussion and revisited the arguments with the benefit of hindsight in the company of two new studio guests. Each of the episodes so far has struck me as being a bit, well, pointless, a bit ho-hum. That in spite of the fact that ity's always entertaining to hear Gore Vidal, of course, even briefly (likewise Clive, of course, natch). Can't think of anyone else who puts a glottal stop between the second and third syllables of 'Christianity'.)

I can hear in my "mind's ear" Mr Vidal doing just that.
He also deserves our admiration for having no idea who David Dimbleby was, when said titan of broadcasting interviewed him on US election night last November.
