That nice Bernard Hoskin has very kindly asked me back to his outstanding little subterranean venue Acoustic Routes where I last played in February 2012.

The website www.acousticroutes.co.uk - will be the place to check for when tickets are available (but I expect someone will probably post something here when they are).  It's a concert-style set-up and because of the underground access numbers are (very) strictly limited to about fifty or so.

I didn't spot anyone making notes, so here's the setlist --

Master of the Revels (keyboard)
I See the Joker (k)
Frangipanni was her Flower (k)
The Beautiful Changes (guitar)
Wristwatch for a Drummer (g)
Me To Thank (k)
The Closer Someone Is (k)
Between Us There Is Nothing (k)
Beware of the Beautiful Stranger (g)

Ice Cream Man (g)
Time To Burn (k)
The Road Of Silk (k)
A Hill Of Little Shoes (k)
Errant Knight (g)
Girl On The Train (g)
You Better Face It Boy (k)
Perfect Moments (k)
Thirty Year Man (k)
Original OHTNTBlues (g – pseudo-encore)

In the absence of any word to the contrary I suppose I'm free to say that this was perhaps one of the very greatest ever performances in the history of modern music, so special thanks to everyone who came.  Bernard said he could have sold the event twice over, so apologies to anyone who tried and failed to get tickets.  There was talk of a short season next time.

Well I made a trip back to Cambridge expressly for this and dragged an old school friend and fellow classics student along too.
And all joking aside I thought it was an excellent set and performance.  I'll confess I've only seen Pete perform twice before in the last 35 years or so but opportunities for comparison are limited.  What was so good was how Pete's live performances and the way he approaches the songs adds meaning over and above what you get from the recordings, so every song, even my old favourites like Girl on a Train and Beware of the Beautiful Stranger came to me afresh.

Oh and we bought some product.
