I don't know if this is posted elsewhere on the site, but Clive is back on tour next week, with 'Clive James in the Evening' at the South Bank Centre on the 18th. The agency website only lists shows up to Edinburgh in August, but I've just received the leaflet for upcoming shows at The West Yorkshire Playhouse, and he's on there on 22nd October. http://jeremymeadow.com/jml/current.asp?showid=41

You're right, John -- Clive's current tour doesn't seem to have had a mention before. And I note that (as of today at least) the listing on the agency site (your link) is more up to date than that on clivejames.com. I also spotted this week (no doubt as you did with WYP) that Clive appears at Sheffield Lyceum on September 5th. Checking seat availability I found the place half sold already -- not bad going. Is this the biggest tour he's ever done, I wonder? No surprise he's not had time to update his Website! Now, could we get audiences like this for another Words and Music tour? Steve

Not a particularly encouraging review. Maybe what Clive needs is some musical accompaniment. Now, who could provide that....

... on BBC One's Question Time ! Tonight it was announced that Clive would be on the panel of Question Time - in which, as you will know, the guests answer topical questions from the audience - on Thursday July 23. Not sure where it is being held. That's a day of a crucial by-election so I suppose that questions might touch on that - but surely top of the list for the audience will be "Will the panel name their all-time favourite Pete Atkin/Clive James song ?" | The BBC website has it in Stevenage. You can only apply for tickets two weeks in advance, so I assume that bookings have only just opened. Simon

I think that during last night's Question Time David Dimbleby announced that next week's (the Clive one) would be held on Norwich. Naomi

... er, I meant to say "held in Norwich". Although given the by-election excitement, much of the debate may well be "on Norwich". N

....was how Clive was billed on QT. Not bad! (Someone should get David Dimbleby to stop cutting across the end of the questioners, though.)

Cutting across questioners is simply in character with the shameful state of the BBC nowadays. The wretched and inept Evan Davis regularly talks over politicians of all parties, in the mistaken belief that we're more interested in his views than those of our elected representatives, and Humphries and the not-so-bright woman presenter on the Radio 4 breakfast show are almost as bad. The best TV moment of the year - so far - was watching Mandelson dismantle that lightweight Marr one recent Sunday morning...rant over!
