Clive James: The interviewer becomes the interviewee. (http://www.artswom.co.uk/2007/09/27/clive-james-the-interviewer-becomes-the-interviewee/)

Although it is unclear whether or not Clive James (http://www.clivejames.com/) left the comfort of his ‘Library’ for the benefit of his recent interview for Sky’s monthly magazine, there is the ominous suggestion of a ‘hotseat’ in the introductory paragraph that really makes us think that, maybe, the ‘king of chat’ would have been far more comfortable staying in his living room…

Regardless, the interview with the critically-acclaimed, award-winning star of Sky Arts’ Clive James Talking in the Library (http://www.skyarts.co.uk/SkyArts/Film/Article.aspx?artid=4834) series is an intriguing, humorous and revealing foray into the mind of the witty Aussie host. The full interview is available to read on page 18 of the recently redesigned Skymag, but here are some of our favourite excerpts…Oh, and we hope you appreciate the classic Clive image at the top…

What’s the most important thing you learnt as a child? By all means dream while riding a bike, but remember to never close your eyes.

What’s your favourite word? Saudade: it’s the Portuguese word for helpless longing.

What would you save if your house burnt down? My books.

What’s your nickname? Ming the Merciless of Mongo.

Who are your heroes? All the people who have been braver in defence of liberal values than I am, which adds up to an army.

And what about the "classic Pete image"? Did it not arouse somebody's curiosity?
