There's a branch of Bona Foodie in Lewes, too. Obviously it's spreading through Sussex. I have often wondered as I passed whether it was after Round the Horne or just a pun on 'bona fide'. I shall go in and ask next time I pass while they're open. Keith M

I did finally go into Bona Foodie in Lewes a month or so ago and, after buying a couple of very tasty snacks, asked the woman serving me whether the name came from Round the Horne. She looked at me as though not sure whether this was an indecent comment or I was merely slightly deranged. However, her somewaht older male colleague cut in and confirmed that he thought Round the Horne was indeed the inspiration as "the owners are a bit Julian and Sandy". Sadly the Lewes branch has since closed. On the same off-topic, it must be over 40 years ago when I heard the following gag on RTH: "Last week's competition winner, Mrs Frogmorton [or some such name] has written in to say that she doesn't want the rook token and can she have a gift vulture instead." I can't think why that, out of so many thousands of radio jokes, has stuck with me all that time, like soap between your wedding ring and finger. Keith M

The one that has stuck with me is from ISIWRTA - "The world will end at 12 noon tomorrow. Consequently tomorrow will be a day or morning".
