"It's tough having to face up to the reality that he's simply not there any more - and that all that vast amount of stuff that he knew has just evaporated. But he had done his damnedest to make sure that he left us plenty to be getting on with. He had educated us into the continuing expectation that there would always be something else: another poem, another column. Or indeed another book."
