I'm thrilled to hear about a possible Vol 2 of the Songbook. Here some classics I'd like to hear given the treatment:

I've always thought 'The Magic Wasn't There' - in all its recorded versions - was a bit too slow. I'd like to hear an up-tempo version. Call me crazy, but it feels to me like a song that was never meant to a ballad.
'Shadow of the Widower' is another one that I think could be dramatically re-interpreted, even though I really like it the way it is. This one, I think, could actually be slowed aallll the way down, becoming a double-bass-led smoky bar-room song.
But that's the only two that spring to mind.
I think v2, ideally, would be a great album on which to pack in some previously unrecorded material.

Pete mentioned the possibility of "an album of the most recent unrecorded stuff," which sounds wonderful. I'd like to bring up the notion of an album of the oldest unavailable stuff as well. I can't vouch for the quality of those songs, since I haven't heard most of them, but many of the titles on "While the Music Lasts" and "The Party's Moving On" sound promising, and if the original albums can't be released or made available, re-recordings would do nicely. (A lot of the songs on the discography's list of unreleased songs look tantalizing as well.)

Can I suggest Nothing Left To Say - a song that resonates deeply with me as I get older (well to be honest it resonated deeply when I was younger - I can't tell if it's resonating deeper now or just continuing to resonate as strongly! In other words: I don't think it's to do weith me I just think it's a great song) - and my memory tells me I have heard Pete play a great live version of it (but where? Must go and check the website
and yes I've got to second (or third) the call for Shadow and the W - that would be great!
