Title: 'Pete & Clive' - the Clive interview Post by S J Birkill on Today at 02:21 In September 2015, shortly after The Colours of the Night was released, radio producer Hayley Redmond put together "Pete & Clive", a half-hour programme about the songwriting partnership, featuring observations from our heroes, plus praise from many a well-known and astute observer of popular culture. The subtext throughout was along the lines of "How could it be that such high-class songmanship never led to widespread recognition, wealth and fame for its creators?" The programme was broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in November 2015. Nothing new there. You'll all have enjoyed the programme, which you can still access in our Clive James Website Archive at: https://archive.clivejames.com/audio/pete_plist.htm. Now Hayley has supplied us with an unedited recording of her interview with Clive for that programme, in which Clive talks candidly about his recognition of Pete's abilities, and how he can't imagine the creative process having worked out so well with any other musician. I've today uploaded it to the Archive. The interview itself was never broadcast, so I've placed it in the Interviews and Podcasts bit of the "Audio" section, at: https://archive.clivejames.com/audio/pod_plist.htm. It's the last (bottom) item in the player. SJB |
