Haven't had the chance to listen to this yet - but there is a very rude accompanying comment about our heroes here. Why shouldn't dads dance at weddings? Jon

Here is the rude comment. I wonder what he does like? <<Holy hell. That is the very worst music I have ever heard I think. The aural equivalent of your dad dancing at a wedding. What were you thinking? The words sounded like a third-form poetry competition entry and the signing sounded like a civil servant auditioning for the X Factor for a bet. Approach with lashings of caution.>> Ian C.

I'm not sure we should take too seriously anyone who headlines his (I'm assuming 'gunnerboy' is a he) comment 'Ohmigod'. I had a chance to listen to the podcast in the course of a rail trip to London yesterday - well worth an hour of your time. There's probably not a lot in there that will be news to the cognoscenti here, but it's an entertaining and informative conversation, with a particularly good discussion of the craft of putting words to music or vice versa. Clive can of course talk effortlessly about almost anything, but I'm also always struck by how interestingly and thoughtfully Pete talks (and writes) - which is why it was a shame that his contributions were excised from the original Word interview. Dear old gunnerboy seems to have jumped to his conclusions on the basis of a few very short snippets of the songs - we have a few seconds of 'Thief in the Night', 'Laughing Boy' and 'Senior Citizens'. In fairness, I'm not sure how well they come across - the songs probably need a little more room to breathe - but equally I'm a little bemused that anyone could dismiss either the lyrics or the singing (or 'signing') so vehemently on the basis of what's included. Mike

| The bad news is that the closure of The Word Magazine is that this interview is no longer available here. However, the good news is that you can still find it as a"Backstage" podcast from Word at Apple iTunes or Pure Lounge. Kevin Cryan
