Clive James has four new poems in the latest issue of Standpoint magazine (January/February 2010). The titles are: Language Lessons, Andatino, Australia Felix and

Unless I am very mistaken, Clive has actually been inspired by write this poem by the playing of the 17 year old Rachel Cheung, who played Schubert piece in the second stage of last year's last year's Leeds International Pianoforte Competition (http://www.leeds.ac.uk/music/pianocompetition/) in which she took fifth place (http://www.leedspiano.com/Home/Results.aspx) Rachmaninov: Concerto no. 2 in C minor, op. 18.

Pedants' Corner - A pity that Standpoint illustrated 'Andantino' with the wrong movement from the Schubert sonata.

Could Katsumi be a reference to Katsumi Kelly, Red Buttons' doomed Japanese wife in the Marlon Brando film Sayonara (he mused idly)?
