Title: Gig report; news
Post by S J Birkill on Today at 19:15
Pete reports that Saturday's appearance at The Pheasantry went especially well. Here's the set list. As usual, Pete played guitar on most songs, with piano accompaniment by Simon. The ones marked 'P' were piano only -- sung without guitar:

Thirty Year Man (P)
I Wouldn't Hear A Word Against The Spring (P)
Practical Man
History And Geography
Time To Burn (P)
The Trophies Of My Lovers Gone (P)
Beware Of The Beautiful Stranger
An Empty Table (P)
Have You Got A Biro I Can Borrow?

Laughing Boy
Care-Charmer Sleep (P)
The Luck Of The Draw
Sessionman's Blues (P)
We Will Love Again
You Can't Expect To Be Remembered
The Colours Of The Night
Girl On The Train

The Party's Moving On (P)
The Original, Original Honky Tonk Night Train Blues

Here's a fine photo of Pete's Pheasantry stage set-up, posted elsewhere by member Alastair Bickley:

Pete's next Pheasantry (https://www.pizzaexpresslive.com/venues/chelsea-the-pheasantry) outing is set for Saturday, October 1st. When booking opens we'll let you know via the Gig Guide.

Meanwhile, the good folks at Birmingham's Kitchen Garden Cafe (https://www.kitchengardencafe.co.uk/) have announced a return engagement for Monday, September 19th.
Tickets are already on sale at wegottickets.com (https://www.wegottickets.com/event/551654#tickets). More, soon, via Smash Flops (https://www.peteatkin.com/pa.htm#gigs).

Thanks for the tip off re the Kitchen Garden Cafe, 19 September. I've picked up a leaflet and, more importantly, a ticket! :)

oh dear, a ticket bought and meeting up with an old friend.....but there are whispers of a funeral on that date that may yet blow the gig out of the water ...

Hi I'm Diane & am new to Midnight Voices.

I was introduced to Pete's music by my (Australian) husband who remembers well his collaboration with Clive James & has seen them/him several times.  He suggested that Pete was asked to perform at (our local) Ledbury Poetry Festival in July 2020 & he was booked but we all know how that ended.  We are very much hoping he be able to come in 2023.
Was very excited when I got us tickets to see Pete on Monday 19.09 at the Kitchen Garden Cafe.  Have just spoken to them & they say it's still going ahead despite other activities that day so fingers crossed there are no changes & it will go ahead.  See you there!

Thank you Diane -- great to hear from a new member!

But I'm afraid I must deliver bad news about the Kings Heath gig. As we (including yourself) feared, events have intervened. Pete, together with the Kitchen Garden people, has regrettably agreed to defer the September 19th performance, on the very real expectation that, after a day devoted to the state funeral of HM Queen Elizabeth II, not many will be in the mood to turn off the box and devote the evening to song and merriment.

Apparently their calendar is pretty full, but a new date has been agreed, Sunday 19th February next year, and Pete has been told the venue will give those already ticketed the choice of whether to transfer their bookings to the new date or accept a refund.

Kitchen Garden can be reached at 0121 443 4725, email <info@kitchengardencafe.co.uk>.

I've got an email saying that Kitchen Garden Cafe has been rearranged to February 2023!.

My third effort at seeing Pete in 2022; all three torpedoed, first by tube strike/meeting cancellation, then a clash with a family trip to the Edgbaston Test, now this. Hoping for better luck in 2023 (or earlier?)

(Diane - hi!. I'm based in Worcestershire so if you get Pete to Ledbury that's another ticket sold..!)

Hopefully that'll mean I can actually make the Kitchen as well as the Pheasantry!
