Title: Jeeves in Manhattan Post by dr_john on Today at 22:16 Not a gig as such, but Pete was at the Cheltenham Literature Festival last Sunday, producing an excellent Martin Jarvis reading of two P G Wodehouse stories set in New York (Leave it to Jeeves and Jeeves and the Unbidden Guest) for broadcast on Radio 4 at a later date. He came out on stage after the first story to arrange a couple of re-takes, and received a healthy round of applause - I wonder if there were any other MVs in the audience? |

There are six days remaining for you to hear Martin Jarvis perform 'The Artistic Career of Corky' (http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00wr6qm), the first of two of P.G. Wodehouse's celebrated Jeeves and Wooster 'New York' stories. The performance, produced and directed by one Pete Atkin, was recorded in front of a live audience in the Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham, as part of this year's Cheltenham Festival of Literature. Elisabeth Mahoney writing on today's Guardian (http://www.guardian.co.uk/tv-and-radio/2010/dec/21/radio-review-jeeves-in-manhattan), finds a lot to admire in the production: Quote:
