Pete will make an appearance at BB's Blues Club in the Colour House Theatre at Merton Abbey Mills (Collier's Wood tube), SW19 2RD (South Wimbledon area), at 8:00 p.m. (for 8:30) on Sunday, October 21st.
Merton Abbey Mills is an Arts and Crafts village featuring a market, shops, restaurants and a pub as well as the 60-seat theatre. The historical mill building occupies the site of the Liberty and William Morris mills, hotel accommodation is available on site and nearby (Premier Inn and Holiday Inn Express respectively), and the legendary curry houses of Tooting are just a short walk away. Free parking is plentiful around the village, but avoid the hotel car park unless you're staying.
Tickets (just £6) will go on sale in a few weeks via the Colour House website, so please regard this as advance notice of the gig, especially for MVs. Any profits from the evening will go the the club's nominated charities, Jubilee Sailing Trust and Prostate Action. The evening will be MC'd by vintage blues player and singer Simon Prager.
Thanks to James Walton Ingham of BB's, and to ex-MV Cathy for organising this one. Looks like a good opportunity for an ad-hoc members' get-together (or it would have been ad-hoc if I hadn't just mentioned it here!)

Oh, the irony.
If I were only living where I used to live until last year, this would have been the closest PA gig to me in history, apart from the one I organised myself. A decade or two back I even used to work just over the road at Merton Bus Garage, so I know Merton Abbey Mills well.
But I'm not. And I have no wish to return. I like living in Wales, see. Nice it is by yur.

I've just learned from Pete's newsletter that Cathy C's upcoming local gig has had to switch venues, from the Colour House Theatre at Merton Abbey Mills to The Wheatsheaf in Tooting Bec, directly opposite the Northern Line station entrance.
Tickets are now priced at £8.00 on the door, or £6 in advance from Cathy  . Doors open 7:30 for an 8 p.m. start.
Now to update the gigs listing on the Smash Flops front page!

The Wheatsheaf at Tooting Bec is dead easy to find - right by the tube station - so I hope as many of you as possible will be able to reward Cathy Corbishley's initiative in setting up this gig next Sunday evening. Go on - you can record Downton Abbey and then scoot through the ads.

An excellent summing up Kate. I couldn’t agree more. Pushed for a one-word description I would say Wonderful.
But here’s a little more detail ;
First off Big Thanks to Cathy for organising the gig – Bless you – and I hope it made a bit of cash for the cause (Tenacious : Tall Ship sailing for people of all abilities – if I understood correctly).
Simon Prager was a very entertaining support act and MC – opening for Pete with some choice old blues songs expertly and entertainingly played – good stuff – including a Gary Davis medley and what sounded like a music hall song called My Mother Doesn’t Know I’m on the Stage (or v similar title!). Very amusing.
Pete’s First Set was
Guitar
1 Be Careful.. which segued into
2 Practical Man
3 Prince of Aquitane

3 Perfect Moments
4 Search and Destroy
5 Canoe
National Steel Guitar
6 National Steel
7 Pearl-Driller’s Hands
8 Laughing Boy
Then we had an interval and fund-raising raffle prizes (hand-made by Cathy!) – including stuffed fabric ‘cat-nip’ raps.
Simon returned for some more old-timey blues songs – and he really does warm the audience up (not I hope that we were cold!).
Pete’s Second set:
Guitar
1 Carnations on the Roof – with the new rhythm which I really like – it seems to simultaneously break the lines up yet hold the song together.
2 A Guitar is a Thief

3 Touch Has A Memory - which Pete said he hadn’t been planning to play but did so in honour of a member of the audience (yep, Wizz Jones – Pete said he didn’t dare play it on guitar  . Which segued into

Right I hope that lot is correct – somebody will hopefully put me right if not – but I was taking notes (and I came prepared… I didn’t need to borrow a … ok sorry! 
What came over was how wonderful those songs are and how excellently Pete is performing and presenting them today. I won’t go on – but great show!

Seán's set-list looks 100% accurate and the descriptions above (brilliant, wonderful, great) just about sum the evening up. The only thing I'd add was that the music hall song was by Billy ("Almost A Gentleman") Bennett :

Pete was on good form and there was a good crowd plus the bonus of seeing the National Steel making an appearance too.
I fully agree with Seán about how wonderful the songs are.
The quality of the songs is borne out by how fresh and relevant they still are in my opinion, and it is always good to hear Pete's comments on how the songs were inspired and how they have developed.
I don't know how Pete managed to fit so many songs into 10 minutes - well the evening went so quickly it seemed like 10 minutes
Thanks again for a superb evening.

Having had a fairly hairy year on the health front - arthritis overtook the lower extremities - and one total knee replacement later (another planned) have only just got round to living in the real world again.....and looking at the set list for the October gig! It left me a deep shade of bottled-green envy of those lucky enough to be present. What a great night it must have been. The songs performed ran the gamut of Pete's repertoire and included many of my favourites.
Will move heaven and earth - and both knees - to get to Watford next year!
