The next 'oD....

Following on from the amazing Chateau on the Plateau weekend in France and taking our estemed leader at his word, "Here's to the next time, wherever and whenever" .

So heres to another 'oD'

A year ago I posted to Midnight Voices ..."I must say that for the last 6 weeks have been having the same thought as yourself, that it was time for another 'oD' and to this end have located a Venue and Accomodation  in a village ( actually now a small town) some 12 miles north of Portsmouth, and was planning to arrange things for October 2012 along the line of SoD2k at a local College provisionally to be called CoD12, but Cod13 or CoD14 will work just as well !!!. "

Well things have moved on a bit, I can now have the use of our Georgian Community Association Building called "Merchistoun Hall" the former home of Admiral Napier.

I am proposing to hold the weekend over the school half term in October of 2013 providing we can arrange suitable dates etc with Pete et al.

The Format will hopefully be similar to SoD2k with the addition of Friday night entertainment for those that want it, a Saturday morning of sightseeing, an afternoon of local talent and support acts, an early evening meal for the MV's followed by the main event.

On Sunday morning breakfast before everyone goes home.

We are located approx 7miles from 3 mainline stations, and have direct connections to the motorway network with good public transport and Taxi services.

We have 3 hotels  (2 within walking distance of the Venues) and an asortment of good eateries and pubs

The  City of Portsmouth with its Historic Dockyard and Ships  is only 30 minutes away with direct motorway links and to the North the Georgian Market Town of Petersfield and the  newly created South Downs National Park.

more later

That sounds like great news.

For us furriners, I assume this is late in October?  I ask because I have relatives in Andover, which ain't so far away, and I have a meeting in Europe scheduled for some time in October 2013

Hi Bogus trumper,

The provisional dates are the weekend of 25th -27th Ocotber 2013, with the main event on Saturday and a suprise for Midvodians for Friday Night.

Andover is indeed not to far away, probably 30 miles or therabouts.

Day 1 and were already  going international!!!

OK, so now all I have to do is wait for this October's meeting and try and persuade everyone that the end of October would be better next year!  Or even the beginning of November  Cheesy

Hi Steve,
Sounds good to me - something to look forward to.
The last oD I went to was the Sheffield one and that was excellent - not just the music (wonderful of course!) but also the chance to chat to other MVs in a convivial atmosphere.
I'll look out for more details of the Merchistoun Hall oD as the date gets closer.
Thanks,
ChrisH
