Clive James has a new essay called A Deeper Consideration in the latest issue of Poetry (Chicago). Looking at aspects of poetry from Shakespeare to Stevens, he has some very insightful things to say about the lyrical miniaturist Samuel Menashe and, perhaps surprisingly, words of praise for Kenneth Koch and mid-period John Ashbery.
