Pete Atkin last appeared at The Wurzel Bush Folk Club in 1975
Thanks to his Internet Fan Club Midnight Voices he is gigging again

Singer/Songwriter PETE ATKIN makes a special guest appearance at Brinklow's
Wurzel Bush Folk Club on Friday 8th December ( Doors open at 7-30pm. The
evening starts at 8-15pm.)

Everyone knows that the multitalented Clive James is a television
personality, a poet, a novelist and a literary critic, but fewer are aware
that what he describes as his 'most intense creative endeavour' was his song
writing partnership with Pete Atkin. Their six albums achieved cult status
back in the seventies but with the most wonderful reviews never quite
delivering the record sales they deserved.

Pete continued to write, contributing some of his own songs to TV, and after
a thorough grounding in light entertainment production for BBC Radio 4 he
eventually established himself as Head of Network Radio, South and West. He
now works freelance, still mostly in radio production for the Beeb, for whom
he produced the epic award-winning series , This Sceptred Isle, written by
Christopher Lee and narrated by Anna Massey.

The Atkin and James partnership is back in the public eye and was the
subject of a recent radio 2 programme Smash Flops - It is also becoming an amazing
Internet success story. Thanks entirely to some fans creating a web-site at
and an e-mail chat line 'Midnight Voices' in 1996. Subsequently they
contacted Atkin at the BBC, and a sell-out comeback gig was arranged,
advertised entirely through the web. Since then there has been a series of
Pete Atkin gigs at various venues around the country. ( Pete's Belgium
concert at Theatre 'De Lijsterbes', Kraainem on Monday 18th December has
already sold-out.)

The web-site, has prospered, with hundreds of loyal Atkin / James fans from
across the globe helping to create its content. The site has the lyrics of
the songs, as well as pretty well everything you need to know about the song
writing team and their subsequent careers.

The monthly folk club takes place at The Royal British Legion Club, Heath
Lane, Brinklow nr Rugby. ( 3 miles from M6 junc 2 ) Admission on the door
£4-00 (Children £2-00)
