Title: Re: Just William and The Observer Post by dr_john on Today at 15:08 Actually, I think you were right the first time, Kevin: I have some of the earlier Just William readings on cassettes (they're coming back, you know), for which Pete is credited as producer. |

He's credited as producer on Just William 3,for instance, but production credit on this CD is given to Jarvis & Ayers and direction credit to Pete. Kevin |

Title: Re: Just William and The Observer Post by Pete Atkin on Today at 19:17 Both boring and unimportant: I started working with Martin Jarvis on the William stories when I was a member of BBC staff, an in-house producer, when the "producer" in radio, as in most cases still, fulfilled the roles both of producer and of director (i.e. both of setter-up and of practical programme-maker); the role of "director" was not generally recognised in-house. The change occurred when independent production came into radio. Martin's own production company (with his wife Ros Ayres) decided to take on the William stories when this became possible, and so subsequenht credits show J&A as producers and me as director, in a way which more closely follows the model for TV and the movies. That watershed was around 1994, I think, so you can tell from the credits on which side of the watershed individual stories fall. Fascinating, huh? |
