In the context "Poems that make Grown Men Cry", Clive speaks about poetry and reads this Keith Douglas poem (no relation to Clive's song lyric of the same name).

Great find--I confess I hadn't heard of Douglas before, and hearing Clive read him was quite moving. But whoever was in charge of the intrusive camera work and sound design should be slapped. Dubbing strings was especially egregious--a good poem makes its own music.

I'm with you on this, Revelator, as I'm sure everyone else here will be -- what has the Beeb come to? I still naÔvely expected the music to fade out as soon as the reading began.
