When We Were Kids, a new poem by Clive is published in this week's edition (07/04/2006) of the Times Literary Supplement (http://tls.timesonline.co.uk/).

Yes, a good poem, which skirts sentimentality and often reads, in terms of its rhyme scheme, like pastiche Muldoon.

It is not quite as new as I first thought. Paul Gunningham, in his review (http://www.peteatkin.com/maltings.htm) of Pete and Clive's gig at The Maltings on the 20th October 2005, thought enough about it to give if a paragraph of its own.

Clive's poems included some interesting new offerings, too. When We Were Kids contained many unusual rhymes such as 'battle/bottle', 'griddle/sizzle', 'tower/tyre', 'cables/marbles'. Perhaps this was because of the subject matter - but the man had better brace himself for those critics who carped about his rhyming of 'mouth' with 'earth' in Girl On The Train (a song absent from tonight's show). They could have a field day with this one!
