Clive James contributes a seven-page introduction to a posthumous prose book by the Anglo-American poet and critic Michael Donaghy, who died in 2004, aged just 50. Called 'The Donaghy Negotiation,' Clive's intro praises the late poet for his devotion to what he terms "the sayable, memorable, living poem."
The book is called The Shape of the Dance - Essays, Interviews and Digressions, and is published by Picador, at £12.99. Donaghy's Collected Poems is published simultaneously by Picador and introduced by Sean O'Brien.
