While I regret the absence of the two bonus tracks that adorned the earlier CD release (especially Julie's beautiful rendition of "Tonight Your Love is Over"), the improved sound and liner notes make this re-release a must-buy. The absence of extras also mean the album will end once again with "My Silks and Fine Arrays," and a more haunting, terrifying ending can't be imagined.

I had an email from Amazon today informing me of this reissue (though it was described as an issue). It also helpfully directed me to three other recordings. The first two - Julie Covington ... Plus and Rock Follies I can understand, But the third was Can - The Lost Tapes.  Can anyone think of a connection between an English songstress and a sixties German band?

Both loved by grizzled old gits gentlemen of a certain age?
I bought an album by Andreas Scholl, and my next recommendations were for a certain type of exercise sandal...

Easy! "Can the Can" by Suzi Quatro but she may not have been English in the strictest sense of the word...

Just catching up with Russell Davies's Radio 2 show from last Sunday, which begins with The Friendly Island song from that album, greets Clive on his 73rd, namechecks Pete, and generally does a good job of plugging the reissue.

Cerys Matthews played Julie's 'Ice-Cream Man' from The Beautiful Changes' on her R6M Sunday show yesterday, sandwiched meltingly between Miles Davis and The Beatles.
(She didn't mention Pete or Clive.)
